The colours of the granite worktops displayed are some of the most popular granite colours in the world, we extensively import our granite tops from the most exclusive mine owners producing high quality granite blocks, which then go for process in state of the art factories which are then cut up into granite kitchen worktops ready to despatch.
We stock all the usual granite slabs with a wide range of colours like, black granite, blue granite, brown granite, cream granite, white granite, red granite, gold granite, yellow granite, grey granite, amongst many others.
Many people ask the difference between black granite worktops and black marble worktops, in my opinion the difference is massive, marble is a stunning natural stone in its own right but is not ideally used as a kitchen worktop as its quite a soft natural stone and very porous, a marble worktops will need to be sealed quite often to keep its surface free from staining from the usual household liquids, the marble will also chip quite easy due to its softness.
Granite is more suited for kitchen work tops as they are more harder and can withstand the daily tasks thrown at them but do bear in mind not to classify all natural granite as the same as granite colours can vary in hardness from one colour to another, the way we asses hardness on a very simple scale and that is the lighter the granite the softer and the darker the granite the harder, this is only a rule of thumb and not always true but can be used as a general rule.
Most potential customers will register an interest in a granite colour through the web site, a quick call to universal granite will get you all the granite advice that you need to make that important decision of which worktop is more suited to your needs.
We are more than happy to post out small granite samples for you reference as this shows you the coloration and the quality of the granite worktop we import and achieve, please note that we do not charge for granite samples and you are more than welcome to select more than one granite colours you are interested in, usually once granite samples are selected you will receive them within 3 days.
Unlike wooden worktops, granite does not need a lot of care as granite slabs are the most suitable material for a kitchen and are quite maintenance free, a wooden worktop like an oak worktop for example will require oiling on regular basis to keep its natural look and qualities, this is not the case with granite, the light granites may need sealing granite but again we will advise you on the amount of times that the granite needs sealing and how often.
One of the most common granite worktop myths is that all granite tops need sealing, not true, the fact is that a granite like star galaxy or black galaxy or Nero assoluto cannot be sealed as the seal applied will only dry out on the surface and will not penetrate the natural stone, you are then left with unfavourable task of taking this seal off the granite work top with plenty of elbow grease!
