Make sure to reseal your granite worktop regularly

Granite is waterproof, stain-resistant, heat resistant and scratch resistant. In fact in a lot of cases it will just wipe clean by using a damp cloth. All of our granite worktops are sealed before they even leave the factor, however they will still need to be resealed on a regular basis. We would recommend every 4 months. Also note that oil based substances can sink into the granite and take a long interval to dry out so it is best that all spills are cleaned immediately.

1) Make sure to not rub with rough materials, instead wash with clean warm water to which you add a non-irritating neutral detergent. Rinse and clean with warm water and dry with a clean cloth. Drainer grooves can be cleaned using a wire wool or mesh.

2) Liquids spilt on your worktops should be cleaned up quickly. The highest risk is from high alkaline or acidic liquids, oil based substances, wine, detergents and alcohol.

3) Absolutely make sure to not allow any build-up of salt or detergent on the worktop.

4) Your worktop should not come into contact with any sort of strong acids or chemicals such as paint stripper, brush cleaner, oven cleaner, nail varnish remover, de-greaser and other similar chemicals.

5) Please be cautious not to hit your worktop with anything blunt and heavy. It will crack, chip or possibly break, especially at the edges.

6) It is advisable to use a chopping board when preparing food in order to reduce the risk of damage to the worktop.

7) Please avoid exposing your worktop to high or excessive heat. You should try to use a cooling mat or tray when taking a tray out of the oven or pots of the cooker.

 

When dealing with stains on you worktop

1) Water based stain removers are mixed for the removal of stains of organic nature such as wine, tea/coffee, fruit juices, carbonated drinks etc.

2) Alkaline de-greaser is used for the removal of dirt of an organic and greasy nature, spots, pollution, smoke stains, wax coating etc.
